Kaltura's CaptureSpace Desktop Recorder allows you to capture and record your screen, webcam, and audio all in real-time. In order to access CaptureSpace and upload your content into your course, you'll first have to download and install CaptureSpace to your computer. We will review two methods for accessing CaptureSpace: via Assignments and Pages.
Downloading & Installing CaptureSpace
Depending on how the course is structured, you may be able to upload and submit your video to Canvas via an Assignment, or by uploading your video and embedding it on a page. You'll notice that the process for either assignment or page access will be similar with some minor differences.
If this is your first time accessing CaptureSpace, please follow the instructions below that are relevant to your use case. Once you download and install CaptureSpace, you can access it from within Canvas via the Embed Kaltura Media widget from either Assignments or Pages.
From Assignments
1. Click on the Assignments tab in the course navigation menu. Click on the assignment that you have to submit to.
Pro-tip:To quickly search for an assignment, you can search for a specific assignment by title via the search bar located towards the top-left of the screen.
2. Click on the Submit Assignment button to proceed.
3. Scroll down, and make sure that you have selected the Text Entry tab, if there are multiple tabs, and look for the Embed Kaltura Media icon which looks like a circular rainbow and click on it.

4. After the Embed Kaltura Media popup window loads, click on the Add New button, and select CaptureSpace Lite.
5. Download the appropriate version of CaptureSpace for your operating system.
For Mac Users: You may see this notification window pop-up after clicking the Download for Mac button, please click on Cancel to proceed.

6. Navigate to the folder where the installation file is saved, double-click the installer file and complete the installation process.
For Mac Users:
After you double click the downloaded .dmg file, it will be extracted and the installation file will appear, double click that to open the installer.
Click Open to ignore the warning and begin the installation.

Click OK to close out of the installation success window, and proceed to step 7.
7. Close out of the Embed Kaltura Media window, and repeat step 3 and 4 in order to re-launch the newly installed app.
Note: For Macs, after the installation process, please drag and drop the installation mounter from your desktop to the recycle bin.
From Pages
1. Click on the Pages tab in the course navigation menu. Then click on View All Pages.
2. Find the page that you are to add your video to and click on it.
3. Click on the Edit button on the top-right of the screen.
4. Look for the Embed Kaltura Media button which looks like a circular rainbow and click on it.
5. After the Embed Kaltura Media popup window loads, click on the Add New button. Select CaptureSpace Lite.
6. Download the appropriate version of CaptureSpace Lite.
7. Navigate to the folder where the installation file is saved, double-click the file and complete the installation process.
For Mac Users: Please refer to the steps for Mac users outline above under the Assignments instructions as they are the same.

8. Close out of the Embed Kaltura Media window, and repeat steps 4 and 5 in order to re-launch the newly installed app. You may also open the app from the Desktop icon as well.
